Welcome to the Department of Electrical Engineering, Dr. Sudhir Chandra Sur Institute of Technology & Sports Complex, Dumdum, Kolkata. Electrical Engineering (EE) is the front runner because of its recent recognition and adoption by all industries and academia, thereby gaining self-confidence of our students to compete successfully with all competitive disciplines. It imparts quality education in multifarious disciplines of Electrical, Electronics, Computer Science, Control Engineering, etc. along with generation, transmission and distribution of electrical power and a set of subjects specially focusing on the performance and design of DC, AC and Special Electric Machines. The focus of the department is to imbibe the students with a potential through a broad exposure to all aspects that facilitates them for all round development.
The department has a dedicated team of faculties with a wide spectrum of specialization such as Power Electronics, Power Systems, Control systems, Industrial Drives, hybrid vehicles, computer engineering, High Voltage for green energy. The course has a healthy blend of Power Engineering, Electronics and Computer Engineering. The course pattern is planned to keep the students up-to-date with recent trends by organizing regular trainings, e-learning through MOOC, industrial visits, workshops, conferences, faculty development programs, etc. The students are provided a platform to think, express, and exhibit their skills.
We produce graduates to become future leaders for industry, academia, government and the society in India whose vision is founded upon fundamental knowledge, creative and analytical skills, local/regional perspective and ethics. Through a good blend of course work and projects, the department endows students with the ability to apply knowledge of science, mathematics, and engineering to work effectively in multidisciplinary teams, provide leadership and technical expertise, and practice engineering with ethical approaches and concern for society and environment.

Mission
- To impart quality education and training in Electrical Engineering with an overall background suitable for making a successful Engineer in industry and researcher higher education.
- To develop life-long learning skills that allow them to be adaptive and responsive to changes in society, technology and the environment, as well as career demands.
- To provide an accredited dynamic scholarly environment wherein students learn to develop communications and leadership abilities to blossom as a professionals.
- To ensure that every graduate is aware of the roles and responsibilities of the professional engineer in society through exposure to ethics, equity, safety and health considerations.
Programme Outcomes (PO):
Upon successful completion of 4-year B.E. degree programme, the ME students will be able to:
- PO1. Engineering Knowledge: Apply the knowledge of mathematics, science, fundamentals, and an engineering specialization to the solution of complex engineering problems related to automobile engineering.
- PO2. Problem Analysis: Identify, formulate, research literature, and analyze complex engineering problems reaching substantiated conclusions using first principles of mathematics, natural sciences, and engineering sciences.
- PO3. Design/Development of Solutions: Design solutions for complex engineering problems and design system components or processes that meet the specified needs with appropriate consideration for public health and safety, and cultural, societal, and environmental considerations.
- PO4. Conduct Investigations of Complex Problems: Use research-based knowledge and research methods including design of experiments, analysis, and interpretation of data, and synthesis of the information to provide valid conclusions in automobiles.
- PO5. Modern Tool Usage: Create, select, and apply appropriate techniques, resources, and modern engineering and IT tools including prediction and modeling to complex engineering activities with an understanding of the limitations.
- PO6. The Engineer and Society: Apply to reason informed by the contextual knowledge to assess automobile-based societal, health, safety, legal and cultural issues and the consequent responsibilities relevant to the professional engineering practice.
- PO7. Environment and Sustainability: Understand the impact of the professional engineering solutions in societal and environmental contexts, and demonstrate the knowledge of, and need for sustainable development.
- PO8. Ethics: Apply ethical principles and commit to professional ethics and responsibilities and norms of the engineering practice.
- PO9. Individual and Team Work: Function effectively as an individual, and as a member or leader in diverse teams, and in multidisciplinary settings.

Communication: Communicate effectively on complex automobile engineering activities with the engineering community and with society at large, such as being able to comprehend and write effective reports and design documentation, make effective presentations, and give and receive clear instructions.
